Freedom in Christ

freedom-in-christ

We have a very real enemy who seeks to steal from us, kill our body, and destroy our minds.  In the west, we are blind to the pervasive realism of the spirit world, which allows the enemy of our soul to attack us unimpeded and without consequence.

The devil doesn’t fight fair, is no respecter of persons, and will absolutely come to you in your darkest hour to take advantage of you.  Demons will make use of any and every door that is open into a person’s life and will open additional doors for associated demons.

The first step in finding freedom is to accept God’s offer of salvation in Jesus Christ.  If you have not made Jesus the Lord of your life, please visit our page How Can I Know God

The Three R’s of Freedom

Repent

Often we are complicit in our bondage.  By sinning or agreeing with the lies of the enemy we are giving them legal right to attack us.  When we repent, which means to change our mind about, our involvement in the things that got us into trouble, we bring those things under the authority of God.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin (1 John 1:7)

Renounce

Make a verbal announcement that you are rejecting and disowning the sin, curse, lie, or agreement with hell.  Cancel out the right that the enemy has been granted in your life, and tell them that they are no longer welcome, they are evicted, and their access is removed.

Rebuke

Tell the enemy to leave in Jesus’ name.  Tell him that he no longer has the right to occupy space in your mind or your life, and that his right to oppress you is revoked and cancelled by the blood of Jesus.

Pray this with me:

Father God, I repent for and renounce the Root of [main struggle] and all its underlings in my life and coming through my generations. In the name of Jesus Christ I now break covenant with the Root of [main struggle] and all its underlings. I ask for forgiveness and that all curses be broken in the name of Jesus Christ.

For each of the associated spirits, speak the following prayer out loud:

In the name of Jesus Christ, I take authority over the spirit of _________ and I break your power over my life. In the name of Jesus Christ, I cast out the spirit of __________ and order it to leave me now.

I now break all generational curses coming through [main struggle] and all programming for [main struggle], in the name of Jesus Christ.

Now pray the following prayer out loud:

Father God, thank you for my healing and deliverance from the Root of [main struggle]. Help me to stay free from this spirit and all of its underlings. And now Father God, I pray for a fresh filling of the Holy Spirit to fill me and take the place of all the spirits that have been cast out. Fill me completely with the Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ name I pray.

Forgiveness Specific Prayers:

Father God, today I choose to forgive myself for everything that I have ever done to offend you or others. I thank you for forgiving me and for allowing me to finally forgive myself.

Father God, today I forgive everyone who has ever hurt me or let me down. Specifically, I forgive __________ (name the people you forgive). I choose today to let them off the hook and to turn them over to you. Thank you for helping me to forgive these people.

Father God, I ask for forgiveness for the times I held it against you when things did not go well for me. Thank you for never giving up on me.

Staying Free

Jesus said that when a demon is cast out it will go through dry places seeking a new home, if it can’t find one it will try to re-enter the person that it left.  This means that we need to:

  • Close the door that allowed the devil access in the first place.
  • Refuse to enter back into whatever granted the devil a license against you
  • Fill the house that the devil exited with the Holy Spirit

To remain free you need to fill yourself with the Holy Spirit who will work in you to create the character of Jesus Christ.  He will help you walk in the PURITY of God (Fruit of the Spirit) and in the POWER of God (Gifts of the Spirit)
